About Michigan Lawyers Weekly

Michigan Lawyers Weekly, which was founded in 1986, reports on legal opinions from all the state and federal courts in Michigan, as well as changes to court rules, verdict & settlement reports, discipline matters and all other news vital to attorneys in the state.

In addition to reporting all decisions by the Michigan Supreme Court and all published and unpublished decisions issued by the Michigan Court of Appeals, Michigan Lawyers Weekly also covers: all reported decisions by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals; decisions by the U.S. District Court and the Bankruptcy Court in the Eastern and Western districts; rulings by Circuit Court judges; and agency decisions.

Subscribers to Michigan Lawyers Weekly have access to numerous website and e-mail benefits, including an Archives that goes back to 1993. Lynn Patrick Ingram, Esq.

Lynn began his career with Michigan Lawyers Weekly in March 1998. He left the paper in July 1999 to practice law in Colorado, but returned in May 2001 and was named Publisher & Editor-in-Chief shortly thereafter. Lynn received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law. Editor

Todd C. Berg, Esq.

Todd joined Michigan Lawyers Weekly in June 2004 and was named Editor in July 2005. Todd began his legal career in 1995 as a solo practitioner. In 2000, he joined the Death Penalty Trial Assistance Division of the Illinois State Appellate Defender, where he handled death penalty cases for four years. Senior Opinion Editor

Edward Wesoloski, Esq.

Ed has been with Michigan Lawyers Weekly since the first issue came off the press in November 1986. Before coming to Lawyers Weekly, Ed had a two-year clerkship with a federal magistrate judge. He's a former law review editor at the University of Detroit Law School and worked in radio and television newsrooms while attending Eastern Michigan University. Mary L. Cheetham, Esq.

Mary joined Michigan Lawyers Weekly in July 1994. After graduating cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1990, she worked as a Circuit Court and Court of Claims law clerk in Ingham County. Before joining the paper, she was in private practice for two years, working in the field of environmental law. She is currently an adjunct professor at Cooley.

Associate Editor

Douglas J. Levy

Douglas joined Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2007 as associate editor. Before that, he spent eight years at The Oakland Press in Pontiac, Mich., where he served as a copy editor, writer, entertainment and food editor, graphic artist and slot editor. He honed his skills at daily and semiweekly newspapers in Illinois, Pennsylvania and Detroit, in addition to independent publications, and earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism at Wayne State University. Melissa P. Stewart, Esq.

While earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Melissa worked as an intern at Lawyers Weekly. She left in July 2003 to attend Michigan State University College of Law. Natalie Lombardo

Natalie joined Michigan Lawyers Weekly in August 2007 as a reporter. Before that, she spent four years at The Oakland Press, a daily in Pontiac, Mich., covering breaking news and crime, nine municipalities with a handful of school districts, politics, business and women’s issues. She honed her skills as an intern and freelancer at Crain’s Detroit Business, specializing in nonprofit organizations. Natalie earned her bachelor’s degree at Central Michigan University with a major in integrative public relations and minors in journalism and public affairs.
